A Notorious Address
06.20.09 (5:08 pm)   [edit]

Arguably the most notorious address in Berkeley, or even the entire San Francisco Bay Area...maybe even Northern California? The former headquarters for the Black Panthers.

I didn't know this until a week ago, while strolling along Shattuck to shoot those lovely twilight scenes. A dashing elder African American who was standing in front of a coffeehouse clued me in...after we had some pleasant discussions about Berkeley's history, or as he calls it: "back in the day".

I thanked him immensely for that factoid, and returned two days later, to stamp that memory to video.

What's not to love about Berkeley? Shattuck Avenue is swiftly becoming my favorite street in the world, usurping the equally-reknowned Telegraph.
